Microsoft Intune is included in Business Premium, and it closes that gap. Company devices are enrolled, encrypted and patched automatically. Personal phones get app protection instead of full management, so employees keep their privacy and you keep control of company data.

Full management for laptops, app protection for phones
Company laptops get full mobile device management: enrollment, encryption, configuration and updates. Personal phones get mobile application management instead. Work apps like Outlook and Teams are protected with a PIN and encryption, saving work files to personal storage is blocked, and a selective wipe removes only company data.
Intune cannot see an employee's browsing, personal email, text messages, photos or call logs on a personal phone. Saying so clearly at rollout is what gets staff on board.

Windows 11, Windows 10 ESU and staying supported
Windows 10 reached end of support on October 14, 2025. Year 2 of Microsoft's Extended Security Updates runs from October 14, 2026 to October 12, 2027 at $122 USD per device, and the free consumer extension does not cover Intune-managed or Entra-joined business PCs.
We use Intune to report which devices are still on Windows 10, buy ESU through our licensing channel where a PC cannot move yet, and upgrade the rest to a current Windows 11 release as a fixed-scope project. Windows 11 Pro version 24H2 reached end of servicing on October 13, 2026, so we target 25H2 or later.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Intune included in Microsoft 365?
Intune is included in Microsoft 365 Business Premium, as well as Microsoft 365 E3 and E5. It is not part of Business Basic or Business Standard, though it can be bought on its own.
Can Intune see personal information on employees' phones?
No. On personal phones we use app protection policies, which only manage work apps such as Outlook and Teams. Intune cannot see browsing history, personal email, text messages, photos or call logs.
Do we need to reinstall our existing laptops?
Often not. Many existing Windows PCs can be enrolled without a reinstall, depending on how they were set up. Windows Autopilot handles new devices and any machine being reset anyway.
Does BitLocker work on every Windows PC?
BitLocker through Intune needs Windows Pro, Enterprise or Education and a TPM chip, version 1.2 or later. Devices running Windows Home need an upgrade first.
How long does an Intune rollout take?
For under 100 devices, configuration takes a few days and the full rollout usually a few weeks, because we enroll in waves and test each policy on a pilot group first.
What happens when an employee leaves?
We block sign-in, then remove company data from their devices. Company laptops can be reset and handed to the next person, while personal phones only lose the work apps and data.
